"If you only have four implants, and if you have a complication and one of those implants fails, there is a high likelihood of losing a full prosthetic. So we want to over engineer and place more implants to spread the forces. We're replacing 12 or 14 teeth that are in an arch. Those 12 or 14 teeth should be supported by more than four foundations."

And on what he sees when titanium comes out: "When I remove dental implants, we often see that the gray in the bone is the corrosion particles that were released from the titanium dental implants and are embedded into the bone. So we know the metals are not staying totally stable."
